The Mission

Plannett's Why

The fashion industry is a massive contributor to environmental damage, consuming vast resources, producing enormous waste, and driving unsustainable practices. As the world’s second-largest polluter, its impact is undeniable—yet often overlooked. The cycle begins with the overuse of natural resources like water and cotton, worsened by harmful agricultural and manufacturing practices. Fast fashion drives overproduction and overconsumption, encouraging constant buying and rapid discarding, which fills landfills and accelerates waste. Beyond environmental harm, the industry’s reliance on exploitative labor and unethical practices highlights its social cost.

Fast fashion thrives on short-lived trends, subliminal marketing, and planned obsolescence, all designed to keep consumers buying. Platforms like TikTok and Amazon blur the lines between genuine content and relentless advertising, fueling an endless desire for ‘must-have’ pieces. These products, made cheaply and without consideration for longevity, perpetuate a throwaway culture, leaving both people and the planet to bear the consequences.

To combat this, sustainable alternatives are essential. Organic and recycled materials, ethical production practices, and intentional designs can drastically reduce the industry’s footprint. Small-batch production, carbon-neutral shipping, and avoiding planned obsolescence are examples of how brands can lead this change. But the real power lies with the consumer. By understanding the true cost of fashion, making intentional shopping choices, and extending the life of their clothes, individuals can create a ripple effect for sustainable change.

Ultimately, addressing the fashion industry’s environmental and social impact requires a collective effort. This means not only changing how we shop but also advocating for better practices within the industry. Supporting ethical brands, raising awareness, and fostering mindful consumption habits can reshape fashion into an industry that values quality over quantity, people over profits, and the planet over short-term trends. Fashion can be a force for good, but only if we choose to make it one.

How Plannett Contributes to a Better Future for Fashion

The fashion industry is one of the most powerful forces in the world—but also one of the most destructive. As the second-largest global polluter, its environmental and social impact is immense. That’s why I started Plannett Gunnett: to challenge the harmful practices of fast fashion and create an alternative rooted in sustainability, quality, and responsibility. Here's how I contribute to making a difference:

1. Prioritizing Sustainable Materials

At the heart of my designs is a commitment to sustainability. Plannett uses organic cotton sourced from American farms, minimizing the agricultural footprint associated with traditional cotton production. For the vintage line, I take thrifted blanks and give them a second life, reducing textile waste and saving hundreds of gallons of water in the process.
By choosing high-quality, sustainable materials, I ensure that each product is both durable and eco-friendly. These choices not only lessen the impact on the environment but also challenge the wasteful cycles of fast fashion.

2. Ethical Production Practices

Fast fashion often comes at the expense of the people who make the clothes. I’m committed to ethical labor practices. Every piece in my collection is handmade with care, emphasizing fair wages and safe working conditions.
I also avoid the harmful practice of overproduction. By designing and selling in small batches, I ensure that every item has a purpose, minimizing excess inventory and waste.

3. Carbon-Neutral Shipping

Transportation is a major contributor to the fashion industry’s carbon footprint. I’ve adopted carbon-neutral shipping methods to ensure that getting my products to your doorstep doesn’t come at an environmental cost.

4. Educating and Empowering Consumers

I know that real change begins with awareness. That’s why I prioritize education as much as design. Through talks, blog posts, social media, and newsletters, I share the hidden truths about fast fashion and provide actionable solutions.
My goal is to empower consumers to make sustainable choices, not pressure them with trends. From extending the life of clothing to finding personal style that lasts beyond fleeting fads, I’m here to guide others toward more intentional habits.

5. Timeless, Made-to-Last Designs

My “Made to Last” collection is a direct response to the culture of disposability that fast fashion promotes. Every piece is designed with longevity in mind, both in terms of style and durability. By creating timeless designs, I encourage consumers to invest in fewer, better pieces that stand the test of time.

6. A Focus on Solutions

I don’t just highlight the problems—I actively provide solutions. From reusing discarded textiles in the vintage line to supporting innovative sustainable fabrics, everything I do is designed to push the industry forward. Plannett Gunnett isn’t just about selling clothes; it’s about leading by example and showing that sustainable fashion is achievable.

Why It Matters

Fashion is more than what we wear—it’s a reflection of our values and choices. By supporting brands like Plannett Gunnett, consumers can help disrupt the harmful practices of fast fashion and pave the way for a more ethical and sustainable industry. Every piece purchased is a step toward a better future for fashion.
I believe that fashion can be a force for good. Together, through intentional design, ethical practices, and consumer awareness, we can create a world where clothing doesn’t harm people or the planet but instead celebrates creativity, responsibility, and care.
